I’ve been away from home for almost two weeks, and man did I spend too much. Sunday night, I sat at my Grandmother’s table and figured out how much money I had left to get home and to pay the bills until my next pay check. I started panicking about all the spending I’d done, so to calm myself, I sat down and drew all of the unecessary items I’d purchased. Some of these things were bought under the guise of vacation “treats” for myself, and some were things that I did need, but didn’t need to be purchased right now. When all was before me on the page, I felt a little bit better. I should have been a lot more conservative in my spending, but in my imagination it had been around $300, as opposed to the real number. Drawing makes good therapy.
